All babies are different, and in saying this, you may have to go through 7 formulas before finding the one that is best for your bub....Give two weeks for the first formula....if your child seems to be having a reaction such as reflux then it's time to change!
If it's something simple like constipation (which i experienced with my daughter) i find that it's because the child is not getting enough water OR the formula scoops were packed too tightly! Pack the scoops loosely, because there will be a little less iron in each scoop...which does cause constipation!
Your child need at least 2 weeks for their little bodies to adapt to the different things going into their bodies....which means your child will quite possibly go through constipation, unless on a lower quality of milk like naan!

Going by taste, S26 Gold is the best... Some of the others like Karicare - naughty nestle anyways - made my stomach churn with the smell, & I didn't think much of the taste. Lucky our guzzler isn't too fussy, however he does seem to prefer the taste of S26 Gold & he hasn't had any digestive problems.

That is excellent advice re breast feeding in the morning and the evening, if you ease off like that, you keep up the nutrion, the bond and you shouldn't get engorged. At 1, Jaydee has formula in the morning, cows milk during the day, & breast milk in the evening, & he is happy & very healthy.

We have used S26 Gold and Naan since birth. Both are good but one is whey based and the other is not. Idon't recall which is which but S26 seems to fill our bub up for longer. Constipation can happen. Our midwife suggested giving 30mls of water once per day not near a feed and we don't have any problems with constipation since we've done that. Also gets them used to drinking water which is apparently easier to get them to drink water as they get older. Will see

When i put my son on Formula (after going back to work) i went throug eight differnt types, Some of therm i found i used only one bottle then threw the tin away as he wouldnt even try it. In the end i went with Karicare Soy.
If possible, try any travel or sample size formula in different brands to see which your child prefers. Good Luck.

When I first changed to formula from breastfeeding quite a few people told me that S26 and karicare had caused consitpation in their children. I subsequently started my daughter on Nan with no problems at all. She made the transition quite readily and experienced no problems. She has also had the Heinz Nuture formulas, again with no dramas. My main advice would be to stock up when they are on special, also the "Gold" varieties have minimal difference for the extra dollars that you pay.

Whatever brand you choose, remember the higher the iron content the more likely it is to cause constipation. I've found Karicare to be excellent for both my kids. Don't go straight to full on formula, try mixing half breast/half formula for the first few days, gradually decreasing the amount of breast milk over a week or so. It's much easier for baby's tummy to adjust that way, and less likely to cause upsets.

I asked many mothers about which formula to use and S26 was the majority holder so I used this for my son and had absolutely no problems at all.

I have used Nan with both my boys as i heard that it was the closest you could get to breast milk, usually you can pick it up from coles for around $20. Quite a few of my friends have tried S26 and said that it does sometimes cause constipation, but i havent had any troubles with Nan my mother in law used it for both her children and she was the one that reccommended it to me. Also I would like to add shaking the bottle to mix the formula can be exhausting especially if you have bub in your arms so I found this fantastic bottle formula mixer at Toys R Us it blends quickly a gets out all of the lumps and doesn't leave your mixer all bubbly. The brand is Prince LionHeart and it only costs $6.99. One of me favourite purchases.

just remember some baby's spew when first taking formula from breast as its sooo different to them so just give it a couple of days and if bubba isn't taking it then ask the doc or midwifes. Cause i went thru 3 different brands at first thinking that my son didn't like it and just kept swapping and was told just to give it a couple of days and he eventually got used to it and loved it

hi there s26 gold is the best but can be expensive another good one which i recommend is SMA cheap and very filling for a baby its the thickest and baby tends to not want more in between feeds this was recommended to me by a midwife as my son was drinking so much formula(s26) he wasn't getting enough so she told me to go on SMA and he cut right back and took the recommended amount each day

Hi there, I also use S26 and have since birth as well as breast feeding. Shop around as the price different in shops can vary. Coles and Woolies around $22, Target and Big W, Kmart around $20 but went Target has a baby sale I buy about 3 or 4 tins which lasts a while some times to the next sale as it's priced at $16.99. To really cut back with costs breastfeed in the mornings and night and only give you baby the formula during the day whist in care. Goodluck

I really like the similac advance. it has all the some of the same benefits of breastfeeding, DHA and ARA and less bubbles. They have all different kinds. Organic, soy, etc. I just use the regular similac advance with less bubbles. I would go with that one unless you are sure your baby has a lactose problem. I breastfeed and our baby switched to formula b/c she was extremely colicy with breastfeeding and it has completely disappeared since we started formula. Good luck!!

I use S26. I would try a brand that you feel comfortable with, you may even find that your child dosn't like that brand. Good luck

There are many brands on the market and they are all of around the same quality. Nan and S26 have been around about the longest, but they are also some of the most expensive. There is a brand, I'm not sure of the name now, but it starts with S in a pink tin. It is half the price of S26, but it is made by S26. My mother in law and sister in laws used it for all of thier kids.

I breastfed my kids until they were at least 7 months old and then put them onto diluted cows milk . I also added Pentavite (a vitamin supplement from the chemist) so they got the vitamins cows milk lack. I found this to be much easier, because I didn't have to wean them from breast to formula, then wean them from formula to cows milk, but I would only recommend this is you if your baby is over 6 months of age, and if you do decide to wean onto cows milk, make sure it is diluted down, at least 50% water.

i use s26 i find it has been good ever since i started giving it to sienna and that was at 3months and she is now 8 months i haven't tried any other brands however but i find s26 works for me
