I just wanted to say that you should not feel guilty You gave it your best shot. I went 7 weeks with my girl before we gave up and I was the same. We used every day bottles, Nuk Colic teats with air flow system (from the chemist) and S26 Gold Formula. Our girl is now 11 months old and she is booming. There is nothing wrong with not being able to breast feed, those who can are just lucky.

Don't beat yourself up over it cause it's just not worth it and if your happy your bub's will be happy.

Chin up

I found avent to be the best for my first when he started to refuse the breast. It's really trial and error though I think. Good luck, I hope things get better for you!

It really depends on your bub... we tried many different types.
We found some teats were too firm and Rylan had trouble sucking from them.
We also found some teats too short for his high palette so he wasn't getting the proper stimulation to suck.
We also found the flow of some teats to be to slow.

All of these teats just made Rylan frustrated and hungrier.

You just have to trial and error to find the one that suits your baby best. Hope this helps, as we had assumed they were all the same and had gone out and bought heaps of one particular brand which turned out to be unusable for us.

Epharmacy

Also, if your nipples are still sore try bepanthan or paw paw cream. I dont care what any lactation consultant or nurse says.......BREASTMILK DOESN'T MAKE IT BETTER! I breastfed both my babies and both times I got cracked nipples if I didn't take care of them with additional creams and both times the nurses would say just put breastmilk on them - which I did before and after feeding but it really is not enough. My mother agreed with me and she had 5 kids.

I do hope you are feeling better and getting lots of support. Breastfeeding is not for everyone. One of my friends in my mothers' group had terrible troubles both times and worked out because she has such fair and sensitive skin and red hair, it wasn't unusual that she would have troubles. The second time she didn't muck around, just straight onto the bottle and hasn't looked back. You have do what is best for you and your health in order to look after your body.

I know only too well about the guilt as I also had issues with it but I promise it fades and you find yourself feeling less guilty. I was very lucky that I had such a great support network, I hope you do too beacuse it helps. Your Community Nurse is usually a good person to talk to.
