Be it getting bullied (yes I know you said shes not but teachers often dont know about it) or the teachers bully her. Yes it happens. I would be asking her why she doesn't want to go. There would be a reason. She might be scared or embarrassed to tell you. Find out the reason and fix it. You might have to move schools. Kids at that age usually love school so there must be a reason.

Hi there, you poor thing

This must be awful to watch your girl be so unhappy. Have you thought about volunteering in the school canteen or even with classroom reading? I say this so at least you would be able to keep a bit of a eye on her and in turn she would feel more comfortable knowing you are around. How do u know she is not being bullied? It may not be by the kids in her class but out in the yard at lunch time. Her teacher may not even be aware of it! I am sure teachers try to be but in reality, the class numbers are so large that they probably miss alot of the action.

I remember someone else wrote a question very similar to this around xmas time. I will try to find it and get back to you as the advise offered was great.

When she started they started the preps part time, so she had plenty of time to adjust. My concern about only taking her sometimes would be that she would miss a lot and her social network may disintegrate. Make friends one day and not see them for ages. I think it is a separation anxiety thing. I think if I were there with her she would be fine. I think I jst need to keep perservering. Thanks for your input, it's been soothing.

just wondering was there a big change in the routine before school or anything else major in your lives happening at the same time...also does she have to go everyday... could she perhaps cut down the number of days she attends ans slowly work up to a full week... i started my son in homeschool this year and he had big issues sitting down to do his school work to start with... always a big fuss in the morning but we figured out (after a couple of weeks of torchure) that slowly changing the routine worked better than just putting it on him all at once... (took about 3 1/2 weeks to get him to a full week of school work) some kids can't cope with change on a whim and need time to adjust... just a though hope it helps.

hi there i had the same sort of problem with my eldest girl when she was in grade one she was fine in kindy but we would have to chase her down to get her to go into class and it happened for a year , drove us all mad and then i decided to change school and she miraculously stopped and loved school after that , well ok untill now that is cause shes a cranky teenager at the moment lol.

i found with my second oldest that a fun sticker set up, rewarding her good days are a good way to go and making getting ready fun with music playing etc. i know my kids felt a little daunted about school because they got sick every morning , then i realised they were not sick they had butterflies in their tummies worrying about friends and schoolwork and if they would make friends, kids will often keep the real problem a secret so maybe if there is something really bothering her maybe you can get her to draw a picture of it or write it down and then throw it in the bin together to ged rid of the worry.

good luck with it
