What country are you flying out of??
In Australia, they make you strap the baby onto your lap with a special strap that goes through your seat belt. They wont allow you to place the baby in the bacinet or even lower the bacinet during take offs and landings.

Depending on the length of the flight maybe you could get away with having the bubby wait for a short time? How do you change a dirty nappy? maybe feed the baby after a nappy change. Surely they don't expect a baby to stay in a dirty nappy that whole time?

i think the best thing to do is ring the airline you are flying with and ask for their advice. i think that once they are sealed to go on the plane, you should be able to open them once you are seated. the airline would be the best people to ask! they are generally pretty undertanding when it comes to infants and children!

hope this helps
