I agree! Its disgusting! I hope they have the death penalty too... actually maybe making them rot in jail on a diet of soy milk and apple juice would suit better. Screw that its just wasting money, inject the sad, cruel bas***ds!

that is just shocking, i feel deeply disturbed by that, thats just sick, i believe they did the right thing sentencing them to life in jail as a vegan would have either breastfed or put there baby on a soy formula, weras they fed there baby juice and soy milk not formula and the baby could never survive on that, thats just terrible that makes me really mad

I get what you mean, i understand. That's why i said this will give vegans everywhere a bad name. You would think that if a baby of that age weight 1/3 of the body weight of the average NEWBORN they would reconsider what they were doing.

well in that case it can be a great thing to do but fancy those other people, even if they were misinformed it's still doesn't make me understand why they didn't pick up the fact that their own child was skin and bones????
how can people be so cruel?
i really wasn't trying to be rude to your friends but i get very passionate about people mistreating their children and especially when they don't feed them and that is what happened!
i still can't believe it

I don't agree with the death penalty at all, for any crime, but that's a different debate of its own. I do think that they got appropriate sentences though.

It's nothing about Vegans, they said they were Vegans but the families I know who chose this way of life have very healthy children. They all breastfed EXCLUSIVELY for the first 6 to 12 months of life and had very happy and healthy babies. This rubbish about soy and apple juice? Where does that come from? THat's not a normal Vegan baby's diet! This is just an excuse. I don't think they did it intentionally, I do think that they had the ideals of Veganism but not the education or intelligence to do it correctly. My daughter has a little 3 year old in her swimming lessons. She is 1 of 6 children, all of them involved in swimming and most have another sport that they enjoy as well. Not one of them has had any meat or dairy products, or anything that wasn't organic. They have perfect skin, teeth and hair because it was done in the proper way. The 4 of the children are home schooled, the other 2 will be. The 8 month old is very bright, she says about 10 words now and this is the way all my friend's children are who have a Vegan diet. They are still standing by their diet and saying they did the best thing by their child. I think they are poorly educated and lack intelligence.

I remember reading about this when it first broke back in 2004 or 2005. It was sad then and it is sad now. I hold nothing against Vegans, I know a few of them, and they have managed to raise their children. For this couple to use their vegan lifestyle as an excuse is absolutely insane. Cheers Leisa

right on girl, this isn't about them being who they are it's about their child that no longer lives!
i can see it now that many people will think we are cruel for saying these things about the way they live well tough they killed their baby!
their lifestyle is one thing but don't force it on anyone, even their own child!

omg that poor baby had to die because of the way they THINK they had to live!
it is total rubbish, i understand that people choose to live a certain way but this is cruelIT'S A BABY FOR GOD'S SAKE!
what animals they are to do this to a child, how could they not know something was completely wrong when the babies bones were showing through it's skin, omg it makes me sick in the stomach
i bet they are wishing they ate meat now huh?, because if they choose to live that lifestyle doesn't mean a innocent baby should, and now that baby had to suffer because of it
i'm sorry i am not trying to be rude but this is serious stuff and NO BABY OR CHILD SHOULD EVER HAVE TO ENDURE THIS TREATMENT
and i believe most of you feel the same way

Yes that was a question I was asking myself why didn't the mother breast feed but as I am not quite sure what a vaegan is ?What ever it I am sure their religions or beliefs are not to kill poor innocent babies.These parents ( have to wonder whether they were all there if you know what i mean)sorry I just can't understand how something like this could happen in this day and age and in a developed country too.It is a very sad world we live in sometimes.

I don't care if they were vegan or not, they clearly didn't care for that poor little angel. It breaks my heart and makes me cry to think of it. Why wasn't she breastfeeding? And soy milk, shouldn't it have been soy formula?

I hope no one looks at that story and thinks it has anything to do with them being vegan. Clearly that isn't the case. They just neglected that child. Glad they got the sentence they did. Hope Georgia has the death penalty!

Yes i did. How could they not realise something was wrong when their baby weighed such an alarming rate.
