Trying for a baby can be a hit and miss thing-it can take a long time and it can take a short time and the more stressed you both are the less likely it can sometimes be to become pregnant. Stress can make guys sperm less fertile and so can diet, lack of exercise and a whole heap of other things.

Try not to make this a ritual or make you both feel the only time you make love is because you want a baby-examine why you 'need a baby badly'....I won't step on toes so will just point out that babies will not fix problems in relationships that are struggling even if you think they can.

Talk openly to each other and maybe see the doctor about how to achieve the best way of getting pregnant, my friend took over 10 years to get pregnant, the stress of getting pregnant and the routine they had was making him feel like a baby machine not a loving husband. Enjoy each other and when it is supposed to happen it will but if you feel you have been trying for over 6 months then pop and see the doctor-don't stress!

Take care.

Try to be patient, It won't always happen straight away, Speak to your doctor if it's not happened in the next year. And also try to chart your temp like everyone else said. You can by ovulation kits at the chemist too, which can tell you how to do it all properly.
Good Luck and have fun trying. LOL
Hope I have been helpful

Have you tried charting your temperature to see when and if you ovulate? If you know when you ovulate you will have more chance of conceiving as you can try at the the right time of the month.

I also stopped drinking caffeine and alcohol and tried to eat well while trying to conceive (as did my partner).

We now have 2 beautiful children. Good luck, I hope that it works out for you.

Hi, with conceiving fairly easily three times i guess i didn't follow any particular pattern. But, i do understand the irregular periods as i had to go on the pill at 14 due to bad heavy and irregular, painful periods but my theory behind trying to fall pregnant, if you can be bothered ( i guess we did because we wanted babies, babies, babies!!!), we litterally had sex almost every night. No matter if you feel like it or what, it doesn't have to be the ultimate hour of sex or anything, just good old sex, i guess that's your best chance to conceive.

Sorry if this sounds a little gross to you all, but if you have sex 99.9% of the time then you will not miss the perfect opportunity for pregnancy!!! (excluding those days of periods of course).

Good luck, and just relax that will help too.

You take your temperature each morning - mine was around 36.9C each time but when you ovulate it goes up. Mine was often 37.4 or more for 3 days mid cycle. These were the days to avoid sex and so pregnacy. But in your case it could work in reverse. That is what I did when I wanted to fall pregnant - that plus Vitamin E for hubby. Learn your temperature variations and when it goes up -go for it. Try finding the Billings Method and getting a handle on what it is about. Good luck.
