and yeah, go the metamucil. I only needed for the first week or so, as I was still adjusting to consuming more water to compensate for breastfeeding than I would normally. (and I drink heaps normally!!)
And congrats too!!!

You can actually take nurofen if you are breastfeeding. As they gave it to me in hospital after my c-sect as well as panadol, and told me to take it as long as I needed. And I was breastfeeding.

Yes stitches are uncomfortable for a while - have you been told all the tips about cool cloths/ice packs, washing it thoroughly every shower etc...? I found a natural laxative at the chemist and only had to use it a couple of times for the first few days - otherwise just drinking juice and lots of water helped. Don't push hard if you're straining - just breath it out (and relax yourself).

With clots I passed a couple of biggies and freaked, but rang the hospital and they assured me it was fine. So I guess if in doubt call someone who knows! (I didn't get them after the caesar, only the natural birth). Hang in there and if you have any questions - ask ahead!

If you are breastfeeding don't take the Ibuprofen/Nurofen as your bub can't take it. Otherwise great advice!

CONGRATULATIONS
I had internal stiched after my daughter as well. I was advised to take Metamucil or another form of mild laxative for a couple of weeks to help "ease" back into things.
Everyone bleeds differently. If you are concerned at all I would go back to the hospital or to your doctor and have everything checked out.
Hope everything is going well. ...

i think the best way to bare the pain is to breath in slowly and deeply - it does help :)

When you go to the toilet for a bowel movement, always make sure that your knees are up above the hip line, as this can help. Was told this after corrective surgery to my vaginal walls, and having internal stitches.

With stitches, the pressure is probably swelling. Try taking ibuprofen/nurofen. With bowel movements, is important to try and not put too much pressure on the perineum and therefore your stitches. It is very important to get enough water and fiber in your diet. Pears are fantastic fiber and you can get pear juice. My OB told me to drink pear juice with every meal. Also, try metamucil in the beginning to get things going.

For clots, passing clots is normal. What you want to be aware of is if you have bright red blood or if you see a change in the clots such as a decrease and then an increase.

Well done!

Hi
Congratulations!

This was extremely helpful for me (3 babies - 3 tears lol) CLICK HERE - http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d72/sanersti/ScanImage001.jpg

As for clots, I used to get heaps and they'd be quite large at times, if my memory serves me correctly, pain, feeling sick, temperature and a different smell are what you need to look for for infection.
