When ringing the removelist ask if there is any backloads going up. We did this when we moved from Sydney to Sunshine Coast. It was really cheap doing it this way. Oh yeah you might ask some removalist , if  they do moves for poeple that need help such as medcial reason  and can't afford amove . As i heard one company here that help single mums to  move  for the frist time at no charge.

SAdly for us selling our things is not really an option as we recently upgraded all our second hand belongings for new ones. WE did this when my hubby gave up work to help look after our baby as we new financially things were going to get tough.

then its a 2 day (or more) drive ahead from melbourne depot...
i hope this helps in some way, its gonna be a big move, but i bet in the end it will be worth it :)
