I have always used sheets & blankets on my boys. I started using a doona at around 12 months with the oldest, and the youngest is 6 months & just has a sheet & a few blankets (depending on the weather) on him. I wouldn't use a doona before ... I wouldn't use a doona before 12 months as youneed to be sure they are able to remove it from their face easily. Tuck the sheet & blankets in & if he is still getting out of them put him in a sleeping bag. Hope this helps.

I used them from birth for both my girls. They are fantastic and come in all sizes and summer and winter.
