I have just recovered from a thumb infection myself and it got nasty VERY quickly! From a small scratch, that ended up infected from gardening ( and we all know that children end up with VERY grubby fingers) I had oral antibiotics which, as I left it too long before seeking assistance, didn't work. I now have half my thumb missing and only half a thumb nail! PLEASE don't mess around with nasty infections!!!

If you think it's bad enough, I suggest going to see the doctor. Infection can spread in the body and if it is infected, you want to get it looked at right away.
Good luck.

By the sounds of it she needs antiboitics. Infections can spread and be dangerous so don't chance it - take her to the doctor. I remember a time when my daughter jammed her finger in a door & it got infected - she needed antibiotics.
