Wheetbix? The cereal version of concrete? LOL Might claim to be full of fibre, but it never helped me - quite the opposite! Try getting him to eat Wheeties flakes and rolled oats with some sultanas and a bit of bran meal all mixed together. That makes me move when I need to and works within a day or two.

Ooh, can thoroughly recommend prune juice or apricot juice. Dilute 1 juice in 10 water. Though if this is a change in his normal function I would enquire from health team, their recommendation. Just for peace of mind.

He actually loves dried apricots although we are out at the moment and he eats a banana every day and has been since he was about one so I couldn't see becoming a problem in the last three days. Thanks for your advice. I will give the prune juice a go as this seems quiet a popular solution

Go easy on the bananas as they can cause this problem too, when too much is eaten. Just ensure that he has plenty to drink and get exercise. Prune juice sounds good and what works for me are dried apricots, although at his age these may be difficult for him to eat. Good luck.

Stool movements can vary due to all sorts of things. He eats good food and drinks well, but what he has could have some small change - bit of bacteria, something in the water, he might have a bit of dirt on his hands you don't notice - any of these can cause a slight upset in the digestive system & then affect stool movememts. Normally these things sort themselves out. If it persists, & you think there may be a problem, have him checked out.

Sometimes too much fibre can cause this too. I know a girl who was once very unwell due to not being able to go - she had too much fibre, causing what the doctors described as a fibre blockage. So if this problem continues that is one possibility for it.

To get him to drink water, add a little food colouring - just a bit won't hurt, especially if it means he will drink the water. Kids love colour in their drinks so he is more likely to drink it. When my kids were that young and wouldn't drink water, I added just a dash of juice or cordial for a little flavour - that often helped, too.

You could try pear juice or prune juice, my sis in laws paediatrician told her to use them for my niece who has a lot of trouble pooing, also you should avoid dairy products as these can make the problem much worse. Hope this helps

Yeah, he normally has about 100 ml 1/2 juice 1/2 water in 24 hrs. He only has multigrain bread and has weet bix for breakfast. Eats alot of fruit, strawberries, sultanas, bananas apples (occassionly) etc. He doesn't get a lot of processed foods or anything, so I don't know what would be causing him to get constipated.
