I believe there is an excellent article on this condition under " chronic constipation" in the minti archive.I am sure I saw it recently. I think it was by chrysilis?

You could also try and google the term. There is lots of info out there in the eather on this.

I remember when my younger brother was six and he did this a few times. Mum had to sit him down and explain that nobody likes it when someone poos their pants, that it smells etc. At the end of the day they need the truth, in the nicest way possible he needs to know that he won't have friends if he poos in his pants. He was more careful after that, and mum had already had the talk so she ignored it the next time. I actually think it was attention seeking because we had just moved in with my mums partner. He only did it once more. For your son I would believe him that it was an accident if it was only a small amount, and runny. If firm then you know he must have done it deliberately - especially if it has been several times lately. After you talk to him you can't acknowledge it, as this is giving him exactly what he wants - attention. It might have something to do with the new addition on the way, trying to be a baby again etc. Good luck, its a tough one and can lead to a lot of bullyimg if it continues.
