My son had his tonsils out last month....
My instructions were.. First day just liquid, nothing hot.. Just stuff like water and sugar drinks like fizzy but with out the fizz, you can just stir a spoon in it to get the fizz out...
Second day, ice cream, and what we call here compot (well that is what it sounds like) ...

My instructions were.. First day just liquid, nothing hot.. Just stuff like water and sugar drinks like fizzy but with out the fizz, you can just stir a spoon in it to get the fizz out...

Second day, ice cream, and what we call here compot (well that is what it sounds like) basically mashed baby fruit, with no lumps what so ever...

Third day, you can warm things up a little...

On the third day my son was asking for toast... I gave him some with just a little bit of butter on it.. He ate what he could..
The doc told me he'll tell me when he was ready for the hard stuff he could not eat it... But he did...

My son is almost three and he recovered very quickly.. I think it took him three to four days to get back to normal..

I was told no milk or yogurt for at least the first two days....

My nephew had his out last year and was looking forward to the same thing. But alas, it was not to be. He had to eat toast and dry stuff! - http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/lachen/laughing-smilies.htmlWhich I found highly amusing as he is such a pain when it comes to food...unless of course it's ice-cream, lollies etc...yeah I'm a nasty aunty I know.

My boyfriend ate that for me so I could get out of the place. It was agony, every time I swallowed I could feel the stitches.. I barely ate for the first week, I tended to live on soup as it was the only thing that didn't hurt.

I really feel for you wee one... if he doesn't eat well after his operation I do not think ice cream will hurt him! Foods like rice pudding will probably go down well too.

I will say that he didn't have ice cream at all when he was in there. He could have icy poles after 2 days, but he had to keep having the coarse food to help keep everything working. I know when I had my adenoids out when I was 4, I could only eat ice cream and jelly, and to this day I can't eat more than 1 spoonfull of ice cream and I don't eat jelly at all.
