I'm going to add a link to the related content tab for you on a product that might help you to keep up with the breastfeeding with minimal discomfort.
Every baby is different, and it could be that you are experiencing an attatchment problem, so might be a good idea to talk to a midwife about that.

If your breast feels lumpy, or you notice blood in the milk (I only noticed that when I burped bub & she brought a bit back up, as babies usually do), then get checked by a doctor. If it's mastitis antibiotics will clear it.

Other than that, just what others have said: warm shower, massage, cabbage leaves. Maybe try a putting a heat pad on them, even if you hold a hot water bottle against them may help.

Hope it feels better soon!

i think it's wonderful that you've got heaps of milk and are able to breastfeed. i could only breast feed for 6 weeks, cameron and i were just having too much trouble and it was best for both of us to bottle feed, but i really wished i could have breastfed for a year.

it sounds like you're boobs are engorged (ie too much milk). i know with weanign to stop engorgement you just express til you're comfortable, not til you're empty otherwise it'll promote MORE milk, you only want to express to releive the preassure not make more milk, so that can help. the cabbage leave trick is a good one for the heat, and another one i heard was cutting nappie in half and putting some water in it so it puffed up then freezing it, when it's cold you put half on each boob. similar principle :P

Hi,
If you have lots of milk then you will need to express it. Only express it when you are really full. If you don't get rid of the milk then you run the risk of developing mastitis.
Get something from the chemist for your nipples and they will feel better in about a week.
Good Luck, Ihope that helps,
Juzzy xoxo

To help with the heat, buy a large cabbage. Break the leaves off, put them in the freezer and then stick them in your bra......it's heaven to hot sore boobs. But as Libby said, go see your Doctor.
