Izzy there is a actually a big range for this and still be in the normal range. Experts say the range for walking is from 9 months to 18 months. Of course parents would have to take into account the baby's overall mobility. My son walked at 10 months. He walked for short distance if he is distracted, but once he realized we weren't holding on to him, he stopped and cried. At 11 months, he was properly motivated by a shiny red elderly walker adn so he walked 10 feet by himself.  On the other hand, my twins are now 11 months old and they are just strating to pull up.

Remember you can encourage your child to crawl & walk but do not force them. If you try to make a child crawl or walk before they are ready you can damage their spine & their co-ordination.
