If your baby is over 1 there is no need for them to continue on the formula. Formula is really more for infants 0-12 months and not for 1 and up. They'll be fine on milk.

Number 2 was breast fed until 17 months, and straight onto cow's milk at 1 - he loves it, but actually prefers soy milk, so we do a mixer most of the time. As the others have said, as long as your baby is growing well and eating a balanced diet, the choice is yours and dependent on what you baby will and won't take.

I have seen a nutriounous (cant spell it lol) for my daughter and she is just about to turn one, we are slowing making the transition from formuler to full cream cows milk. Just watch out for a bit of runny poo when you start. She has taken it very well as i believe it has a creamier taste. You can also buy toddler milk in most super markets that is designed for ages 12 months plus and it has the extra iron and so on blah blah blah.... its about the price of a normal 2lt

This is a pretty divisive issue and I know alot of people have different opinions on it....but anyway, here is the advice I got from my friend who is a Dietition-

For children aged 1 and over that aren't lactose intolerant, full fat cow's milk is suitible. For children that are, full fat soy is suitible.

Formula was originally developed for children that were literally starving-either because their mother was unable to produce milk or because they were from a country were there was simply not enough food. Yes, it contains extra vitamins and nutrients, which is why a baby who for whatever reason is not getting breastmilk can, and will, thrive on it. However, once a child is 1 year old or over, they will be getting much of their nutrition from solid food. It is not nutritionally neccessary to give them fortified milk (ie: formula) unless they are failing to thrive. Of course, some parents will prefer to use formula and that is a totally valid choice. It is just that a healthy child will do just as well on full fat cow or soy milk.

Cheers,
