Plus, the kids will like playing with it when you are not using it. Weights are another excellent way to lose weight and build bone, something very important to women especially. You don't have to look like Arnold Swartznegger, just a couple dumbells even will do the trick. You can use them with the exercise ball as well. I have also heard of some people walking around the house with ankle weights on.

There are also videos like Tae Bo and others. Some of those may be fun to do with the kids. And there is going to the park or backyard with the kids and kicking around a soccer ball or playing rugby with them.

Make it fun. Turn on the stereo with some boppy music that you like and dance around the house while you go about your day. When you're washing the dishes, swing those hips side to side at the sink in time to the beat. Do an over-exaggerated and energetic Freddy Mercury impersonation from the Queen video clip of their song I Want to Break Free when vaccuuming the floor. Every movement you make burns energy so just make what you'd normally do more energetic and you'll eventually get fitter and lose enough weight to start jogging in the mornings without injuring yourself. Your family and friends might think your nuts, but surely it's more interesting and fun than making yourself dizzy walking around your clothesline in circles all day or walking the kids around in the not always so great weather pushing a limo pram!

Alternatively, one that got me fit and thin really fast at one point when Aidan was littler was dancing the steps to the Wiggles songs on video/dvd with the kids! There is no aerobics TV show that even comes close to that kind of workout! OMG where do those guys get that much energy from? They have to be very fit to do that show after show!!!

I can also recommend step machines.. they are fairly cheap now and you can use them while watching your favourite shows on TV. I found it easy to start out doing 10 minute blocks and resting or going to another activity, then returning for another 10 minutes when ready.. it keeps your metabolisim high over a long period that way. Lastly I found that wearing a pedometer did help in a way as it allows you to see how active you really are.. i found myself making excuses to walk (eg 5 trips to carry the shopping or laundry inside instead of trying to juggle it in one) so I could meet the 10,000 steps a day that is supposed to be your goal for good health.

good luck!!
