As for the depression, the effect it has on my mood is a concern. I do see a doctor regularly about this so hopefully that wont be much of a problem. But I may ask his oppinion too.

So much to think about really. But I do think I will go ahead with it.

Thank you for your help with this. It's much appreciated.

Thank you so much for your reply. You have given me some reassurance and I think I might give it a go. I mean, I can always get it out if it's causing too much hassle. Now I just have to get over my medical procedure phobia. lol

A mum of 6? Gee you should get some sort of medal for that. lol I only have the one and yes she is hyperactive but I'm totally exhausted just dealing with her! I've often wondered how I'd cope with a larger family. My neighbours have 12 kids ranging from 5 - 28. None of them are twins or anything and the kids are all theirs (none from prievous marriages or adoption I mean) . The parents never seem overly stressed.

Anyway thank you again and I hope I can be as helpful to you some time in future.

Hi there,

As a mum of 6 you wouldnt think i had much experience with contraceptives.. but I actually tried nearly everything on the market..but nothing really agreed with me! In amongst all this i also tried the mirena and to be honest it was the best one i had as far as mood swings and stuff goes, there was little or no change in my moods and i felt just fine the entire time i had it in. I had it removed because i bled for a lil while after i had it in and became quite anaemic (which i always had trouble with during my pregnancies anyways)... I havent really read up on it, because I only had it in for a couple of months, but i couldnt take depro shots without going crazy in the head and the doc refused to try me out on the implant because of that.. I think you will fine that emotionally theres no change really and its a wonderful thing if you can get thru the initial shock to the body of something new in there.. I met others after i had it removed who also said that they spotted for a little while after too but now have little or no bleeding at all and its wonderful. I think you should give it a go. Any problems you come across theres information readily available and doesnt make you feel like youre going insane or change your intimate life at all. I the doc is worried bout bleeding he most likely will have it removed again if theres signs of anaemia or things like that.

Hope this helps

Cheers from Mel xx
