Well I was two weeks off being 41yrs old when I gave birth to our second child and a mother at school just gave birth to twins, her age 45yrs, she was not even intending to have any more, so big shock there, but a nice one.
One thing to watch though is your stress, it can have a negative effect.

Women over the age of 35 do often find it harder to fall pregnant. That isn't to say, that it isn't possible too.

You should try doing an ovulation chart. The way it works is to make the time of your cycle where you are most likely to get pregnant. I did this with my first baby, and had success in the first month (after 2 years of hoping I'd get pregnant and 1 miscarriage later- and i was 22 at the time).

If you take your temp first thing in the morning, before getting out of bed (have the thermometer by the bed). Over the course of your cycle, you will notice that for about 3-5 days, the temp is up slightly. That is an indication you are ovulating, and time to get your partner into bed with you, and I don't mean for sleep. The other thing that helps, is leaving your partner alone when you aren't ovulating. He needs to build a nice supply of sperm for even better odds of getting pregnant.

Mostly, you need to have patience, and not become obssessed with the idea of having a baby. The more pressure you put on yourself, the less it is going to happen. The more you treat your partner like a baby making machine, the more stressed he is going to be and the less likelihood there is of getting you pregnant.

Treat sex as though it is an adventure, not a means to getting pregnant. Afterwards, stay laying down with a pillow under your thighs to help keep the sperm as close the cervix for as long as possible. 30 mins should be long enough. If that isn't possible, then use a tampon instead. It should do the same trick.

For me now that I have 5 kids, the ovulation charts are used to reduce the risk of having any more. Well, for the next few years any way lol. Anyone thinking this is a safe form of contraception should be warned that it isn't. Physical barriers and chemical contraceptives should still be used.

I'd like to recommend Natural Family Planning, it's a brilliant way of learning about your cycles in a way that goes deeper and beyond the basics we've all been taught. For example, every womand ovulates at a different time (not always day 14) and you learn to know EXACTLY when that is happening. Plus you also become aware of any problems that may intefere with conception and carrying to term (such as a shorter post-ovulation period that can indicated a progesterone problem that, in turn, can result in miscarriage, but can be easily dealt with prior to conception with hormonal supplements). There should be an NFP clinic in the phone directory, and/or, as it's endorsed by the Catholic church, perhaps you'll find some direction there?

I had a baby in my 20's, my 30's and my 40's. Just a little more tired each time. Had 3 miscarrages before my last baby. Keep away from sinus medications or anything that affects mucus membranes. Just a thought. I stopped taking my sinus meds and stayed pregnant!
Good luck, relax!

I am 44 and 8 months pregnant...all is going well. So there is hope and as my doctor said, if you are still able to reproduce then there is no reason why you can't, just keep trying and good luck.

Sometimes, time and patience is all you need, although I understand the frustration you feel when, every month comes and your period comes along with it when all you really want is a baby!

There are things like ovulation strips you use like a pregnancy test that helps detect your ovulation times, so you know when is the very best time to attempt to concieve. This may help you. Also, I would suggest taking a good multi-vitamin/mineral supplement because I've heard that a good diet and being loaded with nutrients (although not too much!) helps a lot, and also helps your baby out once you concieve it.
