AHHH PAINFUL I ALLWAYS USED OIL OF CLOVES OR IF YOU HAVE ANY NORMAL CLOVES JUST POP 1 OR 2 WHERE YOUR TOOTHACHE IS AND SUCK IT TASTES AWFUL BUT IT WORKS

The toothache you describe might well result from an inflamed nerve - or something else. Whatever the cause, you need to have it seen to quickly or it will get worse. The pain might eventually go away if you leave it untreated, but that wouldn't mean things are all right. In fact, if the pain goes, your tooth has probably died.

So, go to the dentist and have it seen to. You need treatment, pregnant or not. Your dentist may need to take X-rays. If so, ask him to cover your belly with a lead-apron to protect your baby from radiation.

Leaving your tooth untreated will harm you, and might harm your baby also.

I don't know a great deal about toothaches while pregnant but a very old remedy is to use a baby teething gel called BONJELA it worked for me it actually numbs the gums where the nerve is and I used to get a disprin and let it disolve on the tooth (make sure it tastes o.k.)

I used both these as I could not afford the dentist and as I am in my fiftys I still cannot afford them and have a mouth full of gums with the roots still in them (nomore pain for me)

gargle with warm salt water every 2 -4 hours. (old fashioned remedy)

a heat pack/water bottle can help ease the pain when sitting or in bed.

i had that when i was 5months, and they said the same thing but i got antibiotics injected into my gums and he covered it with filling or somthing, it stopd the pain for nearly a year, and i totaly forgot to go back to pull my tooth out untill the pain came back again, then i got it pulled out!! so maybe you should ask for that, be demanding, some dentis will say "yeah we can do that but its not advised to" you have to point it out to them that there is no way im going to have a tooth ach through my pregnancy!! put your foot down!!

and i know how hard it is to get an appointment with them so dont tell the reception, just say you want a tooth pulled out and then tell the dentist then and there what you want!

hey there, try clove oil, i used that whilst pregnant and it worked really well, you can get it in the chemist

I think the only person who is going to be able to help you is a dentist themselves. Most are happy to give advice over the phone, so call your local clinic. Ease up on the pain meds, long term use can be harmful for you and your baby.

go to the dentist. my sister had a bad toothache when she was 5mths pregnant. i don't know if they took it out but, a dentist would surely be able to ease your pain and concern. good luck with your pregnancy.

i had two teeth pulled when i was preg, painful as it was i had no choice i had a infection in one of them, the dentist said it was either put up with it for another four months and run the risk of the antibiotics harming bub or have them pulled under a local. so i chose a local. it was very painful but they did it.

Just see your dentist and see what they say as some will do it, some wont. if in australia your local hosp will do it as long as you have a medicare card plus they know the risks with being pregnant.

I agree with grannjack, if your toothache is that bad you need it seen to quickly, either go to your local hospital if you have one or ring the dentist and try and work out some sort of payment schedule. If the tooth is that bad it will need to come out and there should be no worries because your pregnant...you need to have it seen to incase it is an infection, as it could go to your other teeth.

I had a tooth out many years ago while pregnant, it never harmed me or the bub.

I hope you get seen to quickly...in the mean time have you any Gloves to put on the tooth, it might help with the pain.

Actually being pregnant can make a very big difference, some dentists won't touch it all, and if they do, they need to be careful with which anaesthetics weather local or general depending on the tooth and how bad it is, they may also need to xray it which again poses risks to a developing baby in utero. I still recommend going to the local ed and being assessed, then weighing up the risks. Depending on how far along you are in the pregnancy they may suggest a strong form of pain releif (and possibly some antibiotics if there is a risk of infection) until you give birth. Just make sure they know you are pregnant.

I can definately relate to your problem. If you live in Australia, go to your local hospital Emergency Dept. They have emergency dentists there too. As for being pregnant, it sholdn't make any difference to having a tooth extracted.
