I shop at all of them. Each week I gather all the catalogues and shop via catalogue, making my list and buying really good specials in bulk.

ALDI all the way!!! my shop has gone down by half. the other thing I like about aldi is they stock a lot of Aussie made products and their fruit and vegies come from local growers. I use cloth nappies during the day but I do use aldi disp nappies at night and bubs has never had a problem with them.

in regards to the major supermarkets I worked for woolies for 12 years and my job was to go to coles and bi-lo once a week and do comp checks bi-lo was always cheaper than woolies and coles by as little as 5 cents per product most times a lot more.

but my advice would be to give aldi a try.

Actually the best way if you're willing to take the time to do it, is to shop at all of them. Check the prices of the things you need and where they are on special and cheapest and get what is cheapest at where it's cheapest.

My mum used to do that and it cut her grocery bill by 1/3 the cost of if she just shopped at the one place. It might not seem like much, but if 10 items on your shopping list are averaging $1 cheaper at Woolies, 10 others at Aldi are $1 cheaper, 10 at Coles are $1 cheaper, and 10 items at Bi-Lo are $1 cheaper, you can get all 40 items for $30 less than you'd pay if you just shopped at the one store.

Aldi all the way. It is cheaper and better value for money than anywhere else. me and my partner drive 45 mins to get to our closest Aldi store, but it is sooooo worth the drive. Our fortnights shopping bill has gone from over $400 to under $200, and that includes nappies, formula and munchies! I swear by Aldi, even tho I havent neard of any of the brands.

i shop at aldi, the wipes and nappys are fantastic and all the mothers im friends with use them aswell. for a few items i do go to safeway that way get the best of both worlds little fiddly now have 2 kids but worth it.

I've never shopped at Aldi but I have heard it is cheaper if you don't mind buying unknown brand names. I personally check the specials each week in the catalogues and then go to the suppermarket that has the best specials. If it is a big ticketed item (like nappies) i'll go to both stores. I also buy meat from butchers as it is cheaper (unless suppermarket has some on special). I used to do all my fruit and veg at the green grocers but since we moved I don't have one near by so i have no choice but to do it at the suppermarket. I am thinking of going to the farmers market once a month in a near by town to save more money and get some better quality stuff. I also try to buy things like washing powder and nappies in bulk when they are on special. And I try to get things when they are marked down and then freeze them till I need them.

My mother always said if you do your shopping regularly (eg every wednesday) try and stretch out your next shop by a day our 2 every week. You'll find you have left overs or can's of stuff that you can make a meal out of that you might not normally (you have to be a bit creative). Over time you will be saving money. I used to be able to do this when it was just my husband and I but I find it a lot harder now with kids. They are fussy eaters sometimes.

I'll be watching for other peoples ideas. I always like to learn of new ways to save money.
